Every HGV loaded with scrap aluminium drives onto the scales when arriving and departing – for good reason. When a HGV loaded with scrap aluminium reaches the premises of Müller und Sohn, its load is firstly examined to see if it is radioactive. The HGV then drives directly onto the scales to measure its gross weight. This procedure is repeated after the HGV has unloaded its cargo. The difference between the two measurements is the net weight of the load, which determines its value. All of the data is digitally recorded and transmitted to the accounting department. The scales are absolutely indispensable for our business and a hugely important part of our operating procedures.
